Dog Day Care
Dog day care is a licensed activity for daytime supervised care of dogs without an overnight stay. Operators must hold a separate dog day care activity on their Animal Activity Licence.
Day care covers the working-hours portion of a dog’s day — typically 7am to 7pm — without an overnight component. It is licensed separately from boarding kennels and home boarding because the welfare requirements differ.
Group sizes and supervision ratios are tighter for day care than for boarding. Many day-care operators also hold a boarding-kennels or home-boarding licence so they can take occasional overnight stays.
Day-care rates are typically £25–£40 per dog per day, with discounts for multi-day weekly packages.
