Peak Surcharge
A peak surcharge is an additional fee charged by a dog boarder during peak-demand periods such as Christmas, New Year, Easter, August bank holiday week, and the summer holiday weeks. Surcharges typically add 10–30% to the standard nightly rate.
Most UK boarding kennels publish a separate peak-period rate or apply a flat surcharge per dog per night. The peak windows vary by operator — always check whether the headline price applies year-round before booking.
Christmas and New Year are the most consistently surcharged periods nationally. School half-term weeks are also commonly peak-priced in tourist regions (Cornwall, the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales).
Some operators don’t apply a surcharge but instead require a longer minimum stay during peak windows.
