Licensed Operator

A licensed operator is a dog boarding business holding a current Animal Activity Licence from its local council. Every operator we publish meets this bar at the time of last verification.

We only publish operators whose licence status we can verify against a public council register. If a licence expires or is revoked, we remove the operator. The licence number and issuing authority appear on every operator’s profile so you can cross-check with the council directly.

Some operators advertise themselves as “licensed” without holding the right activity for the service they offer — for example, an operator licensed only for breeding offering boarding. Always verify the licence covers the activity (kennels, home boarding, or day care) you need.

See our guide on how to check whether a dog boarder is licensed for the step-by-step process.
